Pandiarajan directs his son Prithvi

Tamil cinema is lucky to have many fond fathers. When Vijay first started out as an actor, it was Vijay's father SA Chandrasekhar who continued to make films with his son and made the public identify with the star. After actor Prashant made his acting debut in ‘Vaikasi Pirandhaachu,' his father Thyagarajan quit acting and spent more attention furthering his son's career. One can go on waxing lyrical over the many sacrificing dads in the film industry. The latest in the list is Bhagyaraj, who is directing son Santnu in ‘Pudhiya Vaarpugal.' Following his example, his shishya Pandiarajan is directing his son in a film. Pandiarajan's son Prithvi has Kalai.' He's presently acting in ‘Vaidehi.' After this, he will act under his father's direction. In Prithvi's first film, one could see shades of his father's acting style. Pandiarajan promises that this mistake will not occur again.

Vijayakanth : Vikraman
According to director Vikraman, Vijayakanth would surely be in the reckoning for a national award for his acting in 'Mariyadhai.' The film is produced by D Siva for Amma Creations, and directed by Vikraman. He teams up with Vijayakanth after 'Vaanathai Pola' and the actor has a dual role in this. Vijayakanth plays both father and son role. Meena and Meera Jasmine pair with Vijayakanth. Ambika pairs with the father Vijayakanth. Ramesh Khanna, Shanmugaraj and Sampath also feature in the film. Camera is by Andrew, music by Vijay Anthony. Story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Vikraman. The film was launched yesterday at Chennai. Vijayakanth addressed the press on the occasion. "This has evolved as a totally rural story. I am doing the dual role of father and son. Vikraman's policy is to write the story and then hunt for the suitable hero. But he has evolved 'Mariyadhai' specially for me. This is a good story so I postponed doing 'Virudhagiri' and will act before that in Vikraman's direction." "Vijayakanth should have received an award for 'Vanathai Pola' itself. Due to certain reasons he did not. But he is sure to get an award for 'Mariyadhai,'" said Vikraman with confidence.
